Profile:
I began going to the swimming pool at the age of six, and I quickly realized that water was my element. The freedom it provides is simply incredible. As the years went by, I increased my time spent in the pool and eventually became a professional swimmer, competing in numerous national and international events in Italy and France.
While training extensively—essentially living in the pool—I also started teaching swimming lessons to children, adults, and individuals recovering from injuries.
In the spring of 2020, I moved to the Netherlands and currently work as an IT technician. Alongside swimming, I have a passion for all types of sports, which further enriches my life and experiences.
Coaching style:
Every swimmer is unique, and this individuality is vital in the swimming pool. I focus on understanding each athlete’s skills, weaknesses, and strengths to tailor my coaching approach.
Each swimmer has their own objectives, and achieving them requires a step-by-step method. You can’t reach the top of the mountain without starting from the basics. By emphasizing fundamental techniques, we build a strong foundation for success in the water.
Specialties:
As a professional swimmer, my specialty was the medley, which required strong technique across all swimming styles. It’s crucial for me to correct mistakes immediately to prevent wrong movements from becoming habitual, making them harder to adjust later.
I also emphasize teaching and explaining the purpose behind each exercise. This approach helps athletes understand what’s needed and the reasons for my instructions, leading to more effective learning.
“The gestures of swimming are the most similar to flying. Water gives to the arms what the air offers to the wings.”
